Day 2 – guided local river ramble to 3 different waterfalls in our valley, guided property tour, including information on our Eco policies and systems, and details of how we are trying to become more climate resilient since the passage of hurricane Maria in 2017. Or you can just chill out.
Day 3 – volunteering: helping out at the Eco lodge with reconstruction or gardening or suggest something according to your skills. End the day relaxing by one of our cool natural river pools, and enjoy bathing in the fresh running river water, or find a little spot under the rapids creating an all natural river massage
Day 4. Hurricane recovery help in the community. Help with trail clearance, roof repairs, building, school activities, or whatever other projects are happening during your visit. Or suggest something according to your skills.
Day 5. Hot sulphur baths and our capital – we will drive you across the island to the Caribbean west coast, stopping to visit our beautiful, small, riverside and seafront capital city of Roseau. After a short tour and some free time shopping we will drive up the Roseau valley mountains to the little village of Wotton Waven, eating a belly filling delicious local lunch and spending some well earned off time relaxing in some hot sulphur pools, rejuvenating your tired bones.
Day 6 – community walk day – hike through the forest and some farmland, and up the mountain overlooking 3 Rivers Eco lodge, taking in stunning scenery, to our local village of Grand Fond. First you will spend a short time at the village primary school sharing experiences with the teachers & children ( if school is open during your stay ) followed by a guided stroll through the village, passing community buildings, with ocean views, whilst taking in the highlights, some history, and meeting a few interesting characters along the way, keen to share stories of culture and all kinds with new friends. You’re sure to hear about a few heroic, as well as some scary, hurricane Maria experiences. Many people you meet, and all of your main stops, receive a small financial contribution from us on your behalf, which is also included in the full package price. The idea is to help as many people as possible in our own small little way, thanks to your help, which everyone involved appreciates.
After a light snack lunch at a friendly local village bar, hike down the steep and bendy Valley road, see inspiring vistas of the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean at Rosalie, passing by some ancient ruins from colonial days gone by, and feeling the spray from the rough and dramatic ocean at Rosalie bay. Then a short walk up the countryside road back to your home for the week, and time to ‘take a fresh’ in one of our cool & refreshing natural river pools.
Day 7 : free day or volunteer your help at the Eco lodge, on the trails, or in the community
